Tri-Coastal Ride 2014

The ramp angling steeply from the center to the top is the stock trestle. It carried coke (purified bituminous coal), sedimentary iron ore, and limestone and dolostone, from train fed stocks up to the top of the furnace, to charge it for processing. The pipe leading down in the center carried furnace gas released in the smelting process. It was cooled and cleaned of particulates (12 tons of flue dust per day), then fed back (to the right) to fuel the boilers and blast stoves.
