At Calais, Maine, US Route 1 connects with coastal New Brunswick Route 1, and heads north, away from the coast into interior Maine. I make this juction my endpoint, and follow Route 3 back to Bar Harbor. I will save the ride to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, for another year.
