Blue Ridge Ride 2006

Leaving the Parkway, I cut southeast to I-40. The road I choose late in the day, Rt. 80, to the Interstate, proves nearly as challenging as the Dragon. Another night on the road, and an early start north on I-77. Crossing the West Virginia line, sign after sign suggests that "Tamarack" must not be missed. Not billboards, West Virginia State signs. Reaching Tamarack, I'm ready for food, so pull off to see what it's all about. It turns out Tamarack is a state sponsored site featuring West Virginia crafts and food. After perusing the crafts, I have an excellent lunch of local pan fried trout, braised kale, and fried green tomatoes.
